ABOUT

Hello, my name is Cheryl.

I trained for four years as an integrative humanistic therapist. My practice is person-centred therapy.

Person-centred therapy is client led. it is about you, what you want to talk about or maybe you want to sit quietly to reflect. I will provide the necessary conditions to enable you to facilitate change within yourself. Person centred therapy is not about judgement or prompting you to make a change.

I am here to listen, empathise and show understanding of whatever it is that concerns you. I provide a safe, private and confidential space for you to feel comfortable and to allow you to find the ability within yourself to explore your thoughts and feelings. I am very approachable, warm, empathic and understanding. I offer telephone and on-line counselling.

I never thought I would see a counsellor but I was required to attend so many hours as part of my diploma. I thought "what am I going to talk about, nothings bothering me". Once I found the counsellor I was comfortable with I was extremely surprised to find myself exploring my past and present, my thoughts and feelings in a safe and comfortable space that was just about me for 50 minutes once a week. I can relate to the feelings you might have taking the first step to contact a counsellor, it can be quite scary, exciting and maybe overwhelming. My personal experience was quite liberating, as I allowed myself to explore issues that I thought did not bother me.

I regularly study and attend various training courses which enable me to further my knowledge in different areas of counselling. I have worked voluntary for, ISAS (incest & sexual abuse survivors). Place2Be and Reachout counselling.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I abide by their ethical framework for good practice. I have professional civil liability insurance.
